A BIT ABOUT ME
As an art educator with over 25 years of experience supporting the goals of art students, I fully understand how stressful and time-consuming it can be when you take your artistic practice to the next level. This is why I have designed a supportive space for art students, parents and art teachers to organize artistic goals of applying to art school, polishing portfolios, building kick-butt artist statements and more.
Within this blog, you will find a robust portfolio of resources to help you along your art-student journey. A short-list of topics includes:
- Understanding degrees in the arts and careers associated with the degrees
- Selecting art and design programs that meet your needs
- Applying to school, financial assistance, and more.
But above all, I provide resources to BUILD A WINNING art and design PORTFOLIO!
I hold a Doctoral Degree in Education Management with a concentration of Teaching and Learning, an MFA in drawing and 3D arts from Pratt Institute, one of New York City’s top art school, and two undergraduate degrees in (studio and digital) art and design.
Professionally, I have held positions as professor and department chair for two design programs in higher education, have taught students from child to adult for over twenty five years. I am also a professional designer, marketing director and communications specialist.
From an artistic standpoint, I primarily focus on digital art and design at this point in my career. However, I have an extensive exhibition record filled with solo, small group and community exhibitions showcasing studio art within the disciplines of drawing, painting, installation art (both site-specific and filled-space) and ceramics. I have participated in artist residency programs, served as juror for several art exhibition, curated many gallery exhibitions and served on both an advisory board and grants committee for large scale arts foundations supporting emerging artists.
Hopefully, my record gives you the confidence to come on board and let me be your Artful Mentor!
